Washington is working tirelessly to end the Ukrainian conflict, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
His speech at the Ronald Reagan National Defense Forum was broadcast by C-Span.
He said US President Donald Trump is open to dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“Like Reagan, President Trump is willing to talk to adversaries, including Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. This is a sign of strength, not weakness. Some in Washington like to criticize Trump for this, but critics forget that Ronald Reagan did exactly the same thing, and America benefited from it, Hegseth said.
On December 5, Trump said at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony that Washington was "working hard" to resolve the Ukraine conflict and that the United States would eventually be able to end it.
