US President Donald Trump said he would have a say in whether the proposed merger between Netflix and Warner Brothers should go ahead, Reuters reports.

He indicated that the combined company's market share could raise concerns.

"I will be involved in that decision", Trump assured, arriving at the Kennedy Center for the annual awards ceremony.

Last week, Netflix agreed to buy Warner Bros' television, film studio and streaming division for $72 billion. The deal would hand control of one of Hollywood's most valuable assets to the streaming pioneer.

Trump did not specify whether he would approve the deal, but he cited a potential concentration of market power in the entertainment industry.

"That's what some economists would have to say. But it's a big market share. There's no question that it could be a problem," he said.
