A Russian military transport plane has crashed in the northern Ivanovo region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported, quoted by DPA.
Seven people were on board, but there is currently no confirmed information whether any of them survived. According to the newspaper "Kommersant", all on board died.
A search and rescue operation has begun in the area, which is uninhabited.
The Antonov An-22 aircraft, developed in the 1960s, was the last of its type still in use by the Russian armed forces.
The An-22 is used both for transporting heavy cargo by air and for operations with paratroopers. The Ministry of Defense specified that the machine crashed during a planned flight after repairs were carried out.
