The peace deal for Ukraine, which is being promoted by the United States of America, could work. US President Donald Trump told reporters at an event at the White House, TCH reports.

At the same time, he refused to answer questions about the creation of the so-called ''free economic zone“ in Donbas.

"I don't want to comment on it. This is a very difficult situation. It will work. A lot of people want it to work. All I want is to stop the deaths of 25,000 people a month,“ the US president added.

Kiev presented the US with a revised 20-point action plan to end the war in Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday evening, December 11.

Zelensky specified that the United States is offering as a compromise the creation of a “free economic zone“ in the Ukrainian-controlled parts of the Donetsk region, which Russia demands from Kiev to hand over.

“They see this as the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region, and the compromise is supposedly that Russian troops will not enter this part of the Donetsk region. They do not know who will govern this territory“, Zelensky said, adding that Russia calls it a “demilitarized zone“.

According to reports in Western media, Ukraine is under increasing pressure from the United States to quickly reach an agreement with Russia, which has intensified its offensive on the front line in recent months and resumed massive attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
