The peace agreement for Ukraine discussed in Berlin provides for it to receive security guarantees similar to those under Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, a US official said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
This position was expressed today at a press conference in online format after two days of negotiations between Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and a US delegation, which included White House special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
These security guarantees will not remain on the table forever, US representatives said at today's briefing. One of them indicated that Russia is open to the possibility of Ukraine joining the EU. He added that President Trump wants to prevent the Russian military from moving further west.
