In the village of Gorki-2 in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, a teenager armed with a knife sprayed pepper spray and attacked students. According to a source in law enforcement agencies, the attacker, a ninth-grade student, was detained.
The Investigative Committee reported that the minor stabbed a security guard and one of the students. The child died from his wound. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow region specified that he was ten years old.
RIA Novosti reports that the school in question is the Uspenskaya Secondary Comprehensive School. Citing an eyewitness, the agency reports that the remaining students have been evacuated. Ambulances have arrived at the school.
Three students were injured. Ksenia Mishonova, the children's ombudsman for the Moscow region, confirmed the information about the victims in the attack at the school. “Law enforcement agencies are working at the scene of the incident. All possible help and support will be provided to children and adults. The investigation is establishing the motive for this crime,“ she said.
Mash published a video of the attack. In the footage, a young man holding a knife approaches a group of students and asks them: “What is your nationality?“. A security guard tries to stop him, after which the attacker sprays pepper spray on him and attacks him with a knife. He then attacks the children again, chasing them.
Different versions are being considered, including whether the murder was motivated by personal enmity or ideological motives. The teenager is being investigated for participation in extremist movements, a law enforcement source told RBC.
A source from RBC said that law enforcement agencies are reviewing the attacker's social media accounts and trying to determine the motive for the incident. "It is already clear that a number of examinations will be ordered, including a psychiatric one," the source noted.
The 15-year-old teenager who carried out a knife attack at a school in the Moscow region was wearing a T-shirt with the words "No Lives Matter" at the time of the attack, the Telegram channel Baza reported. The channel's authors noted that there is an organization called No Lives Matter that preaches violence, terrorism and the destruction of humanity.
Currently, emergency services are checking the school's classrooms for explosive devices. Journalists reported that the attacker's victim was a fourth-grade student. The attacker has been detained. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, special forces stormed the room where he locked himself with one of the students. According to initial information, the hostage is unharmed.
