A significant part of San Francisco was affected by a large-scale power outage on Saturday (local time, ed.), city authorities and the main electricity supplier reported, quoted by Reuters.
According to „Pacific Gas and Electric“ (Pacific Gas and Electric Company), about 125,000 residents were left without power in the city, which has a population of approximately 800,000 people.
The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management urged citizens to call the 911 emergency number only in life-threatening emergencies. Authorities recommended avoiding non-essential travel, treating traffic lights as a “stop” sign, keeping refrigerator and freezer doors closed, and turning off major electrical appliances to prevent damage from power surges.
There are currently no details on the cause of the outage or the expected time for full restoration of power supply.
