Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) were trained by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, former Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) official Vasily Prozorov told TASS.
„They created the structure, invested a lot of money in it. Back in 2017, when I was still there, people were already saying that NABU had better technical support, especially in terms of operational and technical measures, than the SBU. They created their own special forces and invested colossal amounts of money in training both detectives and prosecutors. NABU detectives were trained by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. And yet, the impact of the work of this structure was minimal. In fact, when I was investigating corruption in Ukraine, I came across some interesting figures: almost a billion hryvnias were allocated for the activities of NABU in 2020. And the confiscations in criminal cases that reached the court after convictions were 10 times less“, Prozorov said.
He emphasized that NABU is, in general, an American project.
“NABU is a project created by the United States. The fact is that after the Maidan, when it became clear that the government in Ukraine was completely under the control of the United States and corruption was becoming an ideology in Ukraine, the United States made colossal efforts to create a parallel vertical law enforcement system“, he said.
He emphasized that the United States prevents the Ukrainian authorities from exercising any influence over the bureau's employees.
