„We need the support of the world – Europe and the United States of America. And this includes: air defense – currently insufficient, weapons – currently insufficient, money...“.

This was written by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his Telegram channel.

He admitted that Ukraine is experiencing a constant financial shortage. According to Zelensky, the funds are insufficient for the production of weapons and drones.

In his next publication, the politician presented his allies with a bill indicating the amount needed to “restore“ the country. He noted that Ukraine needs approximately 700-800 billion, without specifying the currency.

“There will be a fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, there will be a sovereign investment platform for Ukraine“, he wrote.

Zelensky's statement came against the backdrop of a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine, financed by the European Union budget. The EU made a similar decision at a summit in Brussels on December 19. This money will be used to cover the country's urgent financial needs in 2026 and 2027.

Earlier yesterday, Zelensky arrived in Halifax, Canada, for a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney. He also held talks with European representatives.

After the conversation, the Ukrainian leader thanked Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Polish Prime Minister Tusk, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoff, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Storte and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, as well as European Council President Antonio Costa and EC President Ursula von der Leyen for their support for Kyiv.

„During the conversation, we discussed our current diplomatic progress. In summary, we discussed the most important priorities. Ukraine appreciates all the support. We will continue the conversation after our meeting with President Trump“, Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel.

He stressed that Kiev “needs a strong position both on the front line and in diplomacy“. “The world has enough strength to ensure security and peace“, the Ukrainian president added.

According to him, during the talks he discussed “key documents“ on the settlement with the Europeans, which he will discuss with the US president.

“We have 20 points that are already 90% ready, because there is a solution. Some may like it, others may not, but Ukraine will receive $100 billion. Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa emphasized this once again today“, the president said.
