A mid-air collision between two helicopters in Hammonton, New Jersey, has claimed at least one life, NOVA reported.
One critically injured person has been taken to hospital, authorities in the town, located 55 kilometers southeast of Philadelphia, reported.
The Hammonton Police Department said it received a report of an aviation incident involving two helicopters near the city's municipal airport. Both machines attempted to make an emergency landing, but failed. One of the helicopters burst into flames upon impact.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said an Enstrom F-28A helicopter and an Enstrom 280C aircraft collided in midair near the airport, each carrying two pilots. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
