The euro exchange rate against the US dollar rose in today's interbank trading in Frankfurt, German financial information sites reported, quoted by BTA.

The single European currency is trading at $1.1720 as of 10:00 Bulgarian time this morning, or 0.64 percent above its level from last night.

On Tuesday, the European Central Bank set a reference rate for the euro at $1.172.

According to Reuters calculations, the US dollar is holding near its lowest levels in about three weeks against the euro and the Swiss franc. The pressure on the US currency followed a sell-off in US assets as the White House's threats over Greenland added to market uncertainty. The sell-off affected the currency market, Wall Street stocks and US government bonds.

The Japanese yen also remained under pressure as Japanese government bond yields rose to record highs. Investors expressed concerns about the fiscal policies of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who is seeking to expand his party's representation in snap elections scheduled for next month.
