Germany should start talks with France on its nuclear shield proposal, German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil told the German publication "Spiegel", Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"France has offered to make the French nuclear shield more effective for European defense," said Vice Chancellor Klingbeil, who is also Germany's Finance Minister. He stressed that he does not question the nuclear deterrent provided by NATO.

"Such a strategic dialogue between Germany and France is appropriate in these times. We must start such negotiations," he added.
