Russian airstrikes have killed three people in the Zaporizhia region in eastern Central Ukraine, its governor announced, quoted by Agence France-Presse and BTA.

"The Russians carried out drone attacks on residential areas in Vilnius. Two women and a man were killed, and another man was injured," Ivan Fyodorov wrote on the social network "Telegram". "Homes have been destroyed, there have been fires."

Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmygal announced last night that 610,000 people in Kiev remain without electricity due to the Russian strikes, Ukrinform reported.

"As for the electricity situation - the capacity deficit persists. According to data as of tonight, 610,000 consumers in Kiev are without electricity," he said.

Shmygal added that Ukraine continues to seek help from international partners to supply power generators. Sixteen countries have provided hundreds of generators, with the latest shipment arriving from Italy, the ANSA news agency reported.

In his evening video address, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the worst situation with electricity and heating remained in Kiev and criticized the city government of the Ukrainian capital for not handling the crisis well.

"The necessary equipment should have been procured long before winter, and the authorities in Kiev must act much faster to make people's lives easier, at least in February. "Everyone in the government is ready to help," the Ukrainian leader said, quoted by DPA.

The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, is a political rival of the president.

Russian attacks with drones and ballistic and cruise missiles have severely damaged the energy infrastructure in Kiev.

The death toll from the Russian attack on a passenger train in the Kharkiv region on January 27 has risen to six. The regional prosecutor's office announced this on Wednesday, January 28, reported NV, quoted by FOKUS.

They noted that the bodies of the dead were badly burned, which made it difficult to determine their number on the spot.

As the prosecutor's office notes, a forensic examination has established that the body fragments found at the site of the Russian attack belong to six dead.

The department added that in the future a molecular genetic (DNA) examination will be conducted to identify the dead.

On the evening of January 27, near the village of Yazykovo, Izyumsky district, Kharkiv region, Russian forces attacked a passenger train traveling on the Chop-Kharkov-Barvinkove route with three drones

The Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office also noted that there were two hits: one near the train, and another in a train. The Russians used three attack drones, which were previously believed to be of the “Geran-2“ type.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, there were 18 people in the train carriage hit by one of the drones. More than 200 people were on the train at the time of the attack.
