Moscow: NATO persistently reduced everything to the Ukrainian issue and severed all contacts with Russia

Only the emergency communication channel remains, said Vladislav Maslennikov from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The North Atlantic Alliance has severed all contacts with Russia, leaving Russia and NATO with only an emergency communication channel.

This was stated by Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Department for European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with TASS.

„In 2022, the Alliance severed all contacts with us. Only an emergency communication channel remains“, said the diplomat.

According to him, it was the North Atlantic Alliance, on its own initiative, that practically froze the dialogue with Russia in 2014.

„We could have discussed some specific issues, but NATO persistently reduced everything to the Ukrainian issue. Our initiatives to de-escalate military tensions in Europe were not accepted by NATO. The attempt to have a serious discussion on mutual security guarantees – we proposed a draft of such agreements to the North Atlantic bloc in December 2021 – also did not meet with a positive response in Brussels from NATO,” Maslennikov noted.
