A senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei - Ali Shamkhani - posted on social media in Hebrew that the ayatollahs' regime will attack Tel Aviv in response to any attack by the US.
"A limited strike is an illusion", writes Ali Shamkhani in X.
"Any military action by America, from any source and at any level, will be considered the start of war, and the response will be immediate, comprehensive and unprecedented and will be directed at the aggressor, at the heart of Tel Aviv and all its supporters."
Ali Shamkhani's publication comes amid ongoing speculation about whether US President Donald Trump will attack Iran in response to the bloody crackdown on anti-government protests that have left thousands dead.
In December, Shamkhani wrote in X: "Any aggression will be met with an immediate, brutal response beyond the imagination of its planners."
Iran thus said it would strike Israel in response to a US attack.
