Turks buy cheaper goods in Greece, and Greeks come to us.

Turks arrive in Alexandroupolis every day by bus and car to buy cheaper food, traders report. Previously, Greeks would go to Turkish markets for goods, but now high prices in neighboring Turkey are forcing hundreds to travel to Greece, comment the Greek media, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.

Traders in the northern part of Greece are happy with the new customers, who are buying up a huge amount of mainly food products.

At the same time, Greeks who live in the northern part of the country are stocking up on food products from Bulgarian stores. In surveys by the Greek media, those crossing the border with Bulgaria said that the goods in our country are cheaper and of very high quality. They also travel for cheaper gasoline.

However, traders are dissatisfied because their customers prefer Bulgarian goods. Greek traders from the northern regions have requested a special status with reduced taxes and excise duties, because many have already been forced to close gas stations and stores.
