A new storm with strong gusts of wind has injured five people in Spain. The bad weather also caused traffic problems.
Emergency services in the autonomous region of Andalusia have responded to 150 incidents in Seville alone, mainly related to fallen trees. Two construction workers were injured when a shed collapsed and a woman was injured when the ceiling of a room fell on her. Another woman was injured by a wind-blown road sign, and the last was injured when a wall in a residential building collapsed.
The bad weather conditions also led to traffic problems. The highway between Seville and Cadiz was closed for hours due to fallen trees. In another similar incident, a tree fell on overhead power lines and caused delays to a number of medium and long-distance trains in Andalusia.
The storm also caused restrictions in other parts of the region, such as Granada. The management of the Alhambra architectural complex closed pedestrian access to various points in the fortress due to very strong gusts of wind. In addition, local authorities in the Sierra Nevada have begun emergency reinforcement of a landslide dangerously close to a residential building.
