US President Donald Trump will meet with Colombian President Gustavo Petro at the White House on February 3 at 6:00 p.m. Bulgarian time.

The White House press service reported that Trump will receive Petro in the Oval Office. The meeting will be closed to journalists.

Earlier on Monday, speaking of Petro, Trump noted: “He's been very nice in the last month or two. Before that, he was certainly critical. But somehow, after the action in Venezuela, he became very nice. His attitude changed dramatically.“ "We're going to talk about drugs because they're smuggling drugs out of his country in huge quantities," the US leader added, answering questions from reporters at the White House. "I'm looking forward to meeting him. We're going to have a good meeting."

On January 3, in connection with the US military operation in Venezuela, Trump said that his warnings about Petro remained in force. The US leader had previously accused the Colombian president of encouraging drug production. He stressed that the US could take decisive action against Colombia if its authorities did not step up the fight against drug trafficking.

Petro, for his part, said that Trump should award him a medal for his increased fight against cocaine exports to the US, instead of making threats. The Colombian president admitted that the US leader had also succumbed to senile dementia.
