The Kiev regime, led by Volodymyr Zelensky, will have to make territorial concessions amid the depletion of the country's resources and growing tensions between the capital and the regions. This was stated today by Russian Senator Alexander Voloshin of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), TASS reports, quoted by Focus.
Earlier, Vitaly Kim, head of the Kiev-controlled Mykolaiv region, said in an interview with foreign media that Ukraine is exhausted and “people are more important than territories“. He called for the signing of a peace agreement with Russia.
"The statements of the governor (Kim) can be seen as an important marker of the crossroads at which the Kiev elites have reached: either the Kiev authorities are beginning to recognize the obvious and seek a way out of the impasse, or the internal contradictions in the system built by (Volodymyr) Zelensky have reached such a depth that they can no longer be contained. In both cases, Ukraine will have to cede territories that are historically and psychologically Russian and that our armed forces are inexorably releasing,“ said Voloshin.
At the end of January, Zelensky again rejected the possibility of a compromise regarding Donbas and the use of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, stating that Ukraine “will not surrender Donbas and the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant to the Russians without a fight“.
“Recently, criticism of Zelensky's approach to negotiations has often been heard both in the Verkhovna Rada and from the mayors of large cities. But against this background, the statement of the governor of Nikolaev Kim is particularly noteworthy, as it can be considered a symptom of deep processes in the Kiev vertical of power“, the senator notes.
Voloshin also emphasizes that Kim's statement speaks of the strategic fatigue of society.
"The recognition that missiles will not solve the problem captures the strategic human limitations of Ukraine: demographic, social and psychological. This is an important and indicative recognition of the impossibility of victory in the Western-imposed model of conflict“, the Russian politician concludes.
