A Russian airstrike has hit a dog shelter in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia, the Associated Press reported. Thirteen dogs were killed and seven were injured, the city government said.

"Some of the dogs were taken to a veterinary clinic, but they could not be saved. Seven others were injured and are receiving treatment," said city council secretary Regina Kharchenko.

A Russian air strike in the Zaporizhia region in the early hours of Friday injured eight people and damaged 18 apartment buildings, the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, said earlier.

On Friday, Russia launched 328 drones and seven missiles at Ukraine, and air defenses shot down 297 drones.

Amid the freezing winter, more than 1,200 residential buildings in various areas of the capital Kiev have been without heating for days due to Russian bombing of the power grid, President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday, calling for improvements to the work of the Ukrainian Air Force.
