Almost two-thirds of Germans see the US as the main threat to world peace in the near future, according to a sociological survey, which shows greater concern in Germany in this regard compared to 2024, DPA reported, BTA reported.

The survey, conducted by the "Allensbach" Institute on behalf of the Center for Strategy and Senior Leadership, shows that 65% of participants named the US when asked which countries pose the greatest threat to world peace.

When the same question was asked last year, this percentage was 46. In 2024, only a quarter of Germans, or 24%, saw the US as a threat to peace.

Russia remains the country most Germans see as a threat. Since Russia's war in Ukraine began in February 2022, between 75 and 82% of respondents in the annual survey have identified Russia as the biggest threat to world peace. The latest data shows that the share of respondents who see Russia as a threat is 81%.

On the other hand, according to 46% of respondents, China is the country that most threatens world peace.

The survey was conducted in Germany between January 6 and 19 among 1,077 people over the age of 16.

The survey participants were also asked how likely they thought Germany would be involved in a war in the coming years. Only 3% of them said that they thought such a scenario was very likely. However, twenty-eight percent believe that this is more likely, and 24% cannot give a clear answer.

Another 40% of those questioned say that it is more unlikely that Germany will join the war, and 5% believe that such chances are very small.
