Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a press conference that no date has yet been set for the next round of peace talks with Ukraine, but added that it was very likely to take place soon, Reuters reported.

Russia, the US and Ukraine met last week in Abu Dhabi for the second round of trilateral talks.

The parties made no serious progress, although an exchange of 314 prisoners of war was agreed, which is happening for the first time since October.

The Kremlin spokesman also touched on the issue of relations with France. He said that despite recent contacts between Moscow and Paris, there is no desire on the French side to resume dialogue at the highest level.

According to Reuters, last week Emmanuel Macron sent his senior diplomat to Moscow.

Peskov told journalists that “there have indeed been contacts, we can confirm this, which, if desired and necessary, would help to quickly establish dialogue at the highest level. So far, we have not received any signal of such a desire, although we have paid attention to Mr. Macron's statement on the need to restore relations with Russia. We are impressed by such statements“.

Peskov added: “We have long stated that a complete break in relations is illogical, counterproductive and harmful to all parties“.

He said that Russia supports dialogue to resolve pressing problems that cannot be resolved through confrontation.
