Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for any peace agreement that would end the war in Ukraine to contain a specific date for joining the EU, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

In a post on the social network “Ex“ last night, Zelensky said that Kiev “will do everything“ to be “technically ready“ to join the EU by 2027 and that the country will achieve at least the main steps towards membership.

“I want a specific date“, the Ukrainian president wrote.

Zelensky warned that if an agreement to be signed by the US, Russia, Ukraine and Europe does not include a specific date for membership, Russia will work to block the process – indirectly, through certain European representatives, rather than acting independently.

He described EU membership as a security guarantee for Ukraine, stressing the need for specific details and a fixed deadline.

Zelensky pushed for EU accession in 2027 in late January, despite skepticism among European countries. He said at the time that Ukraine's EU membership was one of the key security guarantees "not only for us, but for all of Europe."
