Nearly 2,600 residential buildings in the Ukrainian capital Kiev were left without heating after a Russian attack at night, the city's mayor Vitali Klitschko said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

According to him, the buildings affected are in four districts of the capital. Over 1,100 apartment blocks remain without heating as a result of previous attacks, Klitschko added.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia fired 24 ballistic missiles, one cruise missile and 219 drones in its night strikes against Ukraine. Air defense systems shot down or neutralized 16 missiles and 197 drones, the armed forces said in a post on the Telegram app.

The main targets of the attack were the cities of Kiev, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Odessa. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said that nearly 300,000 people in the city were without electricity and water as a result of the strikes. 200 residential buildings in the city are also without heating, as are 10,000 consumers in the city of Dnipro.

Ukrainian energy company DTEK said that the Russian strikes were directed at its thermal power plant. "This is the eleventh massive attack on the company's thermal power plants since October 2025," the statement on Telegram also said.
