The Turkish state oil company (TPAO) and the British giant "British Petroleum" (BP) have signed a strategic partnership agreement for the development of oil and gas fields in Turkey, Turkish state television "TRT Haber" reported, quoted by BTA.

The document envisages the development of oil and natural gas fields, assessment of regions with potential for the discovery of deposits, cooperation in oil and natural gas exports and transport infrastructure, cooperation at the regional and international levels.

The signatures were signed at a ceremony in Istanbul by Turkish state oil company CEO Cem Erdem and British Petroleum"s international development director Andrew MacOslan.

Turkey's Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stressed that the goal is for the Turkish State Oil Company's capacity to reach 1 million barrels of production, and the cooperation between the two oil companies should be transferred to other countries.

„One of the most basic and priority projects for us is our cooperation in Iraq. Especially with the Kirkuk field. Our other common topic is Libya. We are thinking about joint cooperation there as well. We are discussing cooperation on various projects in Central Asia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. I believe that this year we will have concrete results in this direction and we will share them with the public“, said the Turkish Energy Minister.

Yesterday, the Turkish State Oil Company also won a tender, with which it received a permit to develop two blocks in Libya – one offshore and one onshore.

“Libya announced such a tender for the first time in 17 years. We had submitted a proposal for both blocks, we won the right to receive a permit for both. This time we will search for oil and natural gas together with our Spanish partner “Repsol“, and among our partners in the exploration in the offshore block is the Hungarian “MOL“, said Alparslan Bayraktar.

Among other important international companies with which the Turkish State Oil Company has signed agreements for joint activities are the subsidiary of “Esso Exploration International Limited“ of “ExxonMobil“, as well as with the American “Chevron“.
