Two people were killed and three injured in the Russian city of Belgorod in a Ukrainian missile attack on Monday, Reuters reported, citing a post on the "Telegram" app. of the governor of the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, Vyacheslav Gladkov, writes BTA.

Gladkov specified that two men died at an infrastructure facility, and the strike damaged the power grid.

Belgorod, which is located about 40 kilometers from the border, is often subject to Ukrainian attacks, Reuters points out.

Earlier today, TASS reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a drone strike on the city of Graivoron in the Belgorod region, which caused the death of one civilian.

“A civilian was killed in Graivoron during a targeted strike by an enemy drone,“ the operational headquarters in the region wrote on their “Telegram“ channel. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Meanwhile, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that more than 220,000 people in the region were left without electricity after a Ukrainian strike damaged a substation. Repairs will take several hours, he predicted.

The Russian Defense Ministry, meanwhile, announced that the country's air defenses had shot down 13 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones over the Russian Republic of Komi, as well as the Belgorod and Astrakhan regions, in four hours.
