NATO countries are making plans for a partial or complete naval blockade of Russia and putting the Baltic-Arctic region in a “barracks situation“, said in an interview with RIA Novosti, Russian Ambassador to Oslo Nikolai Korchunov.
“The Alliance countries are deploying their “watchmen“ everywhere and restricting freedom of navigation in violation of international law“, he said.
The ambassador added that the bloc countries are making plans for a partial or complete naval blockade of Russia.
Last August, Nikolai Patrushev, aide to the president and chairman of the Naval College, said that the West, after failing to defeat Russia on the battlefield is focusing its efforts on economic warfare, primarily by blocking maritime shipping.
At the end of July, Nikolai Patrushev, aide to the president and chairman of the Naval College, announced that the European Union had launched the “Baltic Guardian” mission to block Russian merchant shipping in the Baltic Sea. He stressed that it could be expanded to a blockade mission at any time.
Patrushev warned of military provocations that are being prepared and are already underway, which the Russian fleet is resisting. According to him, the EU understands that the majority of Russian foreign trade maritime cargo passes through Northwestern Russia, which is why a real persecution of ships under the Russian flag, as well as foreign ships carrying Russian cargo, is being launched.
