There are no prerequisites for an objective investigation of the sabotage attacks against the "Nord Stream" and "Nord Stream 2" gas pipelines in Germany, said the Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergei Nechaev in an interview with RIA "Novosti".
"Three and a half years have passed since the terrorist attack, but there are still no clear answers to the questions about the perpetrators and organizers of the attack. National investigations in Sweden and Denmark have been suspended, while the German investigation "is being postponed in time", the diplomat noted.
Nechaev stressed that the "leaks" about the course of the investigation promote an implausible theory about the participation of a group of Ukrainian drivers, for who allegedly acted alone. According to the ambassador, Germany's silence in response to Poland's factual justification for the terrorist attack and its refusal to extradite the Ukrainian suspect to Germany is very indicative.
The explosions of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines occurred on September 26, 2022. At the time of the incident, gas pumping along the first route was stopped for maintenance, and the second had not yet started commercial operation.
As a result, three of the four pipelines were seriously damaged. The operator Nord Stream AG said that the damage was unprecedented and refused to predict the possible time for restoration.
