The Salvadoran Navy has intercepted a ship in the Pacific Ocean carrying the largest cocaine shipment in the country's history, weighing 6.6 tons.
The country's President Nayib Bukele announced the news on his social media page X.
He explained that the 54-meter ship under the Tanzanian flag was intercepted 380 nautical miles (703.7 km) southwest of the country's coast. During an inspection involving divers, 330 bags of drugs were found. The cocaine is estimated at $165 million.
According to the head of state, four Colombians, three Nicaraguans, two Panamanians and one Ecuadorian were detained during the operation.
