Hungary has halted diesel supplies to Ukraine, announced Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

He accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his government of interfering in Hungary's internal affairs.

"Diesel supplies to Ukraine have been halted and will not resume until the Ukrainians resume oil supplies via the "Druzhba" pipeline to Hungary," the foreign minister stressed. He insisted that Kiev's blockade of the "Druzhba" pipeline, which was damaged in January, is "purely political" a move aimed at blackmailing Hungary over its veto on Ukraine's future EU membership.

Szijjártó had earlier called on Croatia to allow "the transport of Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia via the Adria pipeline, as our sanctions exemption provides for the possibility of importing Russian oil by sea if supplies via the pipeline are interrupted."

However, Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar noted that his country could refuse to transport Russian oil via the Adria pipeline, stressing that "there are no technical excuses for any EU country to continue to be tied to Russian crude."
