The Venezuelan authorities have amnestied 379 political prisoners after the adoption of an amnesty law, a Venezuelan lawmaker said on Friday night, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
This is the lawmaker who chairs the commission tasked with implementing the amnesty process.
"The prosecutor's office has addressed requests for amnesty (. . .) for a total of 379 people to the competent courts," Jorge Arreaza said in an interview broadcast on television.
"These people will be released and amnestied between tonight and tomorrow morning," he explained.
The law on the amnesty of political prisoners in Venezuela was accepted under pressure from the United States after Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro was captured in a US military operation earlier this year.
