A new snowstorm threatens the US East Coast, with more than 30 centimeters of snow expected in places, including New York, the National Weather Service reported, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.

After the severe winter storm at the end of January, major cities in the northeastern part of the US, such as New York, Philadelphia, Boston and the capital Washington, are preparing for new snowfalls and gusty winds.

"Boston could accumulate from 30 to 60 cm of snow, the weather service warned.

Due to the snow in some parts of the East Coast, the road situation could be complicated and traffic could become almost impossible, she noted, warning of the risk of stopping power.

Flooding is also expected in Delaware and New Jersey.

New York City officials and residents are bracing for a severe storm. "We are currently expecting 13 to 17 inches of snow, but it could reach 20 inches or more," Mayor Zohran Mamdani told reporters at a briefing. "I ask all New Yorkers to stay home and avoid traveling," he told his fellow citizens, warning that traveling on Monday morning could be extremely dangerous.

At the end of January, the same areas of the United States had already experienced a severe winter storm that killed more than 100 people, according to authorities.
