The man who attempted to break into US President Donald Trump's Florida mansion has been identified as 21-year-old Austin T. Martin of Cameron, North Carolina, multiple sources told CBS News.
Authorities say he was carrying a shotgun and a can of gasoline when he tried to break into Mar-a-Lago.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said during a briefing that his family had reported him missing several days ago.
Local police declined to comment to NBC News on whether Martin was still missing and declined to provide further information about the missing person report.
Officials are investigating whether he bought the gun along the route he took from North Carolina to Florida.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said she had already spoken to President Trump.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt praised the Secret Service at Platform X for acting "swiftly and decisively" to neutralize the suspect, whom she described as "a crazy person armed with a gun and a gas canister who broke into President Trump's home.".
