A Turkish F-16 crashed this night after takeoff from an airbase, and the pilot died, the country's Defense Ministry announced.
„At 0:56 in the morning, radio contact and information regarding the location of our F-16 aircraft, which took off from the 9th Main Air Base in Balıkesir, were lost. As a result of the immediately launched search and rescue operations, it was determined that our plane had crashed and its wreckage was found," the ministry said in a statement.
It emphasizes that the pilot did not survive.
The Aviation Accident Investigation Commission is investigating the cause of the incident.
