CNN reported that documentary evidence indicates the close nature of the relationship between former US President Bill Clinton and the scandalous financier Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the media's analysis, Bill Clinton flew on Epstein's private jet at least 16 times. In addition, the case files released by the Justice Department contain photos of the former president in a hot tub with women, as well as photos of him with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was surprised by Thursday's closed-door hearing before the House Oversight Committee, noting that Republican lawmakers had shifted their discussion from the investigation into ties to Jeffrey Epstein to conspiracy theories.

“It took a rather unusual turn at the end, as they started asking me questions about UFOs and a series of questions about Pizzagate - one of the most vile and false conspiracy theories ever spread online. That served as the basis for one of the committee members' questions,“ Clinton said after the hearing. She recalled that she had repeatedly stated on the record that she never knew Epstein and had never visited his island, home or office.

Clinton noted that the hearing had to be postponed due to a violation of the rules by one of the committee members. According to her, the paradox of the situation is that despite the high-profile allegations, Republicans practically did not ask questions about Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and other defendants and were not present during the questioning of businessman Leslie Wexner.

Former US President Bill Clinton and his wife were called to testify under oath as part of their investigation into Epstein. Initially, the Clintons refused to appear before the House for several months, calling the investigation politically motivated. However, they changed their minds after being threatened with criminal liability for failure to cooperate and contempt of Congress.

Hillary Clinton said on Thursday that her husband, former President Bill Clinton, did not know about Jeffrey Epstein's criminal activities during their acquaintance.

“I am sure of it. My husband's contacts with Epstein ended several years before his criminal activities became known. The vast majority of people who interacted with him before his guilty plea in 2008 did not know what he was doing. My husband will testify to that tomorrow,“ Clinton said.
