After the coordinated strikes by the US and Israel against Iran, demonstrations were held in a number of American cities - both in support of the operation and against it, APA and DPA reported.

Larger demonstrations were held in Washington, New York and Los Angeles. Some of the participants criticized the actions of the US administration and called for de-escalation and peace in the region. Others, on the contrary, expressed support for the strikes against the Iranian leadership.

A larger-than-life figure depicting President Donald Trump in prison clothes was brought out in the capital, Washington, during the protests. Above it was a sign calling for impeachment.

“I just want to celebrate“

In Los Angeles, some of the demonstrators celebrated the death of Iranian religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “I want to cry. I want to scream. I want to dance. I want to laugh - but most of all, I just want to celebrate“, the “New York Post“ quoted a participant in the event.

According to the publication, hundreds of people took to the streets of the city to mark the attacks on Iran. Los Angeles is among the main centers of the Iranian diaspora in the United States.

On Saturday morning, Israel and the United States launched coordinated air and missile strikes against targets in Iran. In response, Tehran announced attacks on targets in Israel and several US military bases in the Persian Gulf region.

US President Donald Trump said that Ayatollah Khamenei had been killed in the strikes. His death was later confirmed by Iranian state media.
