Reza Pahlavi, son of the Shah of Persia, who was overthrown in 1979, called on Iranian security forces to carry out a coup after US President Donald Trump's statement that Iran's supreme leader had been killed, DPA reported.

“This is your last chance to join the people“, Pahlavi wrote on the social network “Ex“ (X). He said that “any attempts by the remnants of the regime to determine a successor to Khamenei are doomed to failure“.

Pahlavi called on security forces to support a transition to “a free and prosperous future“. “The death of the criminal Khamenei does not restore justice for the blood shed, but it can be a consolation for the burned hearts of the families seeking justice“, he added.

Yesterday, Pahlavi said he was confident of victory against the Islamic Republic after the US and Israel launched attacks on the country. “We are very close to a final victory. I want to be with you as soon as possible so that together we can rebuild and rebuild Iran”, Pahlavi said in a video message posted on social media.

Reza Pahlavi, once declared crown prince by his father – the last Shah of Persia, has been living in exile in the United States for decades. During the recent mass protests in Iran, he claimed from abroad a leading role in the divided and fragmented opposition.

On social media, Pahlavi has an audience of millions of followers and is considered one of the most influential opposition leaders living abroad, DPA notes.
