Israeli hackers have infiltrated the Iranian prayer times app BadeSaba Calendar, The Wall Street Journal reports.

According to screenshots posted on social media, users of the app received notifications on the morning of Saturday, February 28, calling on the country's military to join the fight to "liberate the country." The messages were in Persian and included the phrase "Help has come."

BadeSaba Calendar is a mobile app for Muslims designed to track daily prayer times, the Islamic calendar, and religious holidays. It is widely used in Iran and offers prayer time notifications as well as religious and calendar reminders. The app is distributed through mobile app stores and has had millions of downloads, making it a popular Islamic service among Iranian users.

According to the Israeli publication The Jerusalem Post, one of the messages reads: “For the freedom of Iranian brothers and sisters, this is a call to all repressive forces: lay down your weapons or join the liberation forces. Only then can you save your lives for Iran.“

“It is unclear who is responsible for the hacker attack,“ the Israeli publication commented.
