Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, head of the judiciary and a member of the Guardian Council, will lead the country temporarily after the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.
“They will lead Iran during the transitional period after the death of the Supreme Leader“, the report said.
The agency did not specify how long this period would last or what specific powers these individuals would be granted. Iran has struck a US military base located near the airport in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, the Fars news agency reported.
