The Israeli army said that the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei eliminated “the entire leadership“ of what it called Iran's "axis of terror," quoted by DPA.
“The elimination of Ali Khamenei represents the culmination of a long-term effort to eliminate the top leadership of the Iranian axis of terror,“ the army said in a statement released last night.
According to the statement, their killing has made the Middle East safer for Israel and the world.
The text also mentions Hassan Nasrallah – the leader of “Hezbollah“, killed in September 2024 in an Israeli airstrike in a suburb of Beirut along with most of the leadership of the Lebanese armed group.
Yahia Sinwar – the leader of the Palestinian armed organization „Hamas“ in the Gaza Strip, who the Israeli army said was killed in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip in October 2024.
The Israeli army also lists Mohammed Deif – the commander of the military wing of „Hamas“, as well as most of the leadership of the military wing of „Hamas“. Deif was killed in July 2024 near Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip in an Israeli airstrike. Dozens of people died in the attack.
Mohammed Abdel Karim al-Ghamari – the slain chief of the Houthi general staff in Yemen – is also listed as a representative of what Israel calls the "axis of terror."
Al-Ghamari was "eliminated" in an Israeli airstrike on the Houthi leadership in Yemen in August 2025, the army said at the time.
The list also includes a number of senior Iranian commanders, including Gholam Ali Rashid of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who was killed on the first day of the Twelve-Day War in June 2025 in an Israeli raid on Tehran.
During that brief conflict, Israel killed more than 20 senior military personnel, some of them – at their homes, including Ali Rashid, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri and Commander of the Guards Hossein Salami.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his official visit to Russia in view of the developments in the country and the region, the Pakistani news agency AAP reported.
“The prime minister's visit to Russia is of great importance for the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, but given the current situation, the visit has been postponed“, said a statement from Sharif's office.
He said that the government and people of Pakistan join the people of Iran in their time of grief and express their deepest condolences over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In an article in “Ex“ Sharif said Pakistan also expressed concern over the violation of international law.
The practice of heads of state and government, which has been in place for more than a century, should not go unchallenged, he said.
“We pray for the soul of the deceased. May Almighty Allah grant patience and strength to the Iranian people to bear this irreparable loss,“ the Pakistani Prime Minister's post also said.
