New explosions echoed in Jerusalem today. Air raid sirens also sounded in Tel Aviv and Haifa, Agence France-Presse reported, after the Israel Defense Forces warned of approaching Iranian missiles and drones from the Lebanese group "Hezbollah", BTA reports.
On the fifth day of the war in the Middle East, which began on February 28 with an Israeli-American offensive against Iran and retaliatory strikes by Tehran, the organization "Magen David Adom" – the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross – reported that two people were slightly injured and hospitalized in the Tel Aviv area.
In Jerusalem, sirens went off four times in less than three hours this afternoon. Several explosions were also heard. Police said they had deployed officers to five different locations in the city after reports of debris from intercepted shells causing material damage.
The Israeli military said it had identified missiles fired from Iran and that its defense systems were activated to "intercept the threat". Israel also reported "several launches" of drones from Lebanon, claiming that "most of them" were also intercepted.
