US President Donald Trump has made several mistakes in the war against Iran. This opinion was expressed by his former national security adviser John Bolton on the air of Espresso, Focus writes.
"I don't know what goal Trump wants to achieve. He mentioned 5 or 7 options, which his subordinates interpret differently. I am a supporter of regime change in Iran and I believe in it. We see that the current regime of the ayatollahs and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards will not give up its pursuit of acquiring nuclear weapons. They will not give up their support for terrorism in the region and around the world. That's why there is no compromise here, it is impossible to reach an agreement with the ayatollahs," Bolton notes.
According to him, the key problem in Iran is its regime. And that's why even if the defeat of Tehran's nuclear program is declared, it will not be enough. Because if the ayatollah is not overthrown, he will restore the nuclear program.
"Therefore, the question is whether Trump planned this operation carefully enough. I am very worried that he is not. I think he has already made several big mistakes, by not preparing the American public for war, by not preparing Congress and the allies, and by not cooperating sufficiently with the Iranian opposition,“ Bolton added.
According to him, such actions by Trump put the United States in a “problematic position“, because he has a limited attention span.
“If Trump declares that all military objectives have been achieved and accordingly the military operation in Iran is canceled, then we will leave a wounded regime that will seek to acquire nuclear weapons even more decisively than before,“ Bolton pointed out.
