US forces have lost a KC-135 tanker plane in a crash in western Iraq, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
“The incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation “Epic Fury“ and rescue efforts are ongoing. Two planes were involved in the incident. One crashed in western Iraq, while the other landed safely. "This was not due to enemy fire or friendly fire," the publication states.
CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs writes in the United States that there were six crew members on board the KC-135 at the time of the crash.
“Epic Fury“ is the American name for the operation in Iran. Since its launch on February 28, Tehran has been carrying out retaliatory strikes against American bases in the Middle East.
Last week, CENTCOM reported that three American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets were shot down by friendly fire over Kuwait. The pilots ejected and survived.
