The military operation in Iran has led to a division in the administration of the US president, according to the German tabloid Bild.

According to the publication, two camps have formed around the American leader - supporters of Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Journalists note that, against the backdrop of the US president's statements regarding the progress of military operations in Iran, divisions in his team are intensifying. The publication points out that the rivalry between Rubio and Vance is already being seen as a possible start to a race for the presidential elections in 2028. Both politicians are considered likely successors to Trump.

According to Bild, the American president seems to be more supportive of Rubio. According to the publication, Vance finds himself in a less favorable position due to his more cautious position regarding Iran.

According to sources, the American president has asked a group of major donors who they think is a more suitable candidate to succeed him - Vance or Rubio. According to insiders, the majority voted in favor of the current secretary of state.

The Republican Party will have to choose a new candidate for the 2028 presidential election, since the US Constitution prohibits the current president from serving more than two terms.

Vance and Rubio are considered leading contenders for the role of Trump's successor. Last July, Rubio called Vance a strong candidate, and later, as Politico reported, he personally suggested that the vice president could become the Republican nominee.
