Referendum during a holiday (VIDEO)

Kazakhs vote for a new constitution during one of their biggest holidays - Nauryz

Nauryz is an ancient holiday symbolizing the renewal of nature, the beginning of a new life cycle and the celebration of harmony between man and the world around him. This year, the holiday, which is one of the most celebrated in Kazakhstan, can be said to have two culminations - March 15 and March 21. The second date is entirely related to the holiday, while today is, so to speak, a kind of political-economic-national culmination - Kazakhs vote for a new constitution. With the adoption of a new supreme legislative document, a renewal and a new life cycle of the people of the ninth largest country in the world begins.

The connection between the holiday and the referendum can be seen in the larger polling stations through performances of folk songs by musicians dressed in folk costumes. In this way, Kazakhs honor the holiday on the one hand, and on the other - fulfill their civic commitment to a full life.
