Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran would continue to defend itself against US and Israeli attacks until US President Donald Trump understands that there is no path to victory.
"We are ready to defend ourselves as long as necessary", the top Iranian diplomat said in an interview with the US television program Face the Nation on CBS News, quoted by DPA.
He said that they "will continue to do so until President Trump reaches the point where he believes this is an illegal war without victory".
When asked if Iran had requested a pause in hostilities, he replied: "No, we never wanted a ceasefire and we never even wanted negotiations".
The US NBC News reported over the weekend, citing a phone interview with Trump, that he said Iran wanted to make a deal. He said he didn't want to because the terms weren't good enough yet.
