The Iraqi Interior Ministry said last night that a drone had hit a hotel in Baghdad near the US embassy, but there were no casualties or material damage, Reuters reported.

The agency reported earlier that the "Al Rashid" hotel in the Iraqi capital's Green Zone, which houses government buildings and the US embassy, as well as a number of diplomatic missions and international institutions, was hit.

The hit hotel in Baghdad is often visited by foreign guests and representatives of diplomatic missions, DPA notes. Videos on social media showed flames and thick smoke rising from the 18-story building.

After an inspection, it was determined that a drone had hit the upper fence of the "Al Rashid" hotel, the Iraqi interior ministry said, condemning any attempts to attack diplomatic representatives in the country.

Iraqi security services said earlier that two "Katyusha" rockets had been fired at the US embassy in Baghdad.

The United Arab Emirates' General Directorate of Civil Aviation announced a temporary and complete closure of the country's airspace as an "extraordinary precautionary measure" amid the rapidly changing situation in the region, the UAE state news agency UAM reported this morning.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said earlier this morning that it was taking countermeasures to threats from missiles and drones coming from Iran, Reuters notes.

The activities of the Shah oil and gas field in the UAE have been temporarily suspended while the damage is assessed after yesterday's drone attack, reported in “Ex“ the press service of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Reuters reported.

A fire broke out earlier yesterday in the “Shah“ field, one of the largest of its kind in the world, located 180 km southwest of Abu Dhabi, Agence France-Presse reported.

The authorities have brought the fire caused by the drone attack under control, the emirate's press service added.

A fire broke out in a residential area in the northern Israeli coastal city of Nahariya after a rocket and drone attack by the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah", DPA reported, citing an Israeli paramedic.

"Two buildings were affected by the fire, there are three casualties," the paramedic reported.

Israeli media reported earlier that the Israeli military was investigating whether the fire was caused by a misdirected Israeli interceptor missile.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) later announced that it had concluded that it was a hit by a rocket attack.

"Hezbollah" claimed responsibility for the attack on Nahariya.

The number of US service members injured in the war with Iran has reached about 200, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Sunday, as the conflict entered its third week, Reuters reported.

CENTCOM said most of the wounded were minor and 180 of the service members had already returned to duty.

A total of 13 US service members have been killed since the start of the US-Israeli war with Iran, with six of them killed in a US military tanker plane crash in western Iraq late last week. Seven more have died while taking part in operations against Iran, Reuters noted in a report, citing the US military.
