Cuba has experienced another nationwide power outage. The island nation's energy ministry said it was investigating the cause and working to restore the power grid. This is the first power outage on the entire island since the beginning of the year. About two weeks ago, another outage affected about two-thirds of the country.

Cuba is home to about ten million people, and the power grid often collapses completely. Much of its aging infrastructure is in extremely poor condition.

Trump: "I can do whatever I want"

The situation in Cuba has also worsened significantly in recent months of tension between the island nation and the United States. Since the beginning of the year, when Washington carried out military intervention in Venezuela and the arrest of the country's leader Nicolas Maduro, Cuba has not received any oil from Caracas. The reason is that Donald Trump ordered a complete embargo on Venezuelan oil for Cuba. However, it relies on this oil to maintain its electricity grid.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump hinted that he could "take" the socialist country. He told reporters that he believed he could have the honor of taking over Cuba "in some form". Then Trump added that "he can do whatever he wants" with Cuba, but did not want to specify what he meant. Shortly after Trump's statement, the "New York Times" reported that during recent negotiations, US representatives had asked Cuba to remove its President Miguel Diaz-Canel from power.

Marco Rubio - US Secretary of State and the son of Cuban immigrants, has long demonstrates that he wants regime change in Havana. Trump has also called for a "friendly takeover", but recently told reporters: "It may not turn out to be friendly."
