The Israeli defense company "Elbit Systems" (Elbit Systems) has received its first order from the Ministry of Defense to develop and equip laser modules for fighter jets, as well as a laser system for helicopters, the Israeli news agency TPS reported, BTA reported.

This technology could make the Israeli Air Force the first in the world to deploy air-based laser weapons.

"Last year, "Elbit Systems" achieved significant results, the most important of which is the conclusion of a contract with the Israeli Ministry of Defense to develop a powerful laser module for combat aircraft, as well as a laser system for helicopters," said a statement by the company's CEO Bezalel Mahlis, who did not specify the deadlines for the project's implementation.

Last year, the Haifa-based company reported its highest financial results to date. Its revenues reached $7.94 billion, which is a growth of 16%, and profit increased significantly - to $534 million. The order portfolio expanded to $28.1 billion, with the company also generating $553 million in cash. For the last quarter of the year alone, revenues amounted to $2.1 billion.

The strongest growth was recorded in the land segment, where sales jumped by 38% due to increased demand for ammunition in Israel and Europe. Other areas - communications, marine and space technologies, as well as electronic warfare systems - also recorded steady growth of about 16 percent.

Demand in Europe, given the war in Ukraine, has led to a fivefold increase in sales in the region in recent years, exceeding $2 billion in 2025. Israel remains the company's largest customer with orders for $2.5 billion.

"Elbit Systems" is best known for its "Hermes" drones and the DASH system - a display mounted on the pilot's helmet that facilitates aiming. The company also produces artillery systems, electronic warfare systems, anti-drone technologies and armored vehicles, among other products.
