Heavy Bombing! US and Israeli Strikes Target Iran's Missile and Drone Infrastructure

US Uses Heavy Anti-Bunker Bombs Against Deeply Fortified Targets in Iran

The United States has used heavy anti-bunker bombs in strikes on fortified Iranian missile positions near the Strait of Hormuz, which, according to the US military, confirms that a significant part of Iran's military infrastructure is located deep underground.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) did not specify the specific type of ammunition used, but according to expert assessments, it is most likely the modern GBU-72 Advanced 5K Penetrator - a high-precision bomb weighing about 2,270 kilograms, designed to hit deeply fortified targets. The weapon, first tested in 2021, uses satellite and inertial guidance and is designed specifically to penetrate heavily defended underground targets.

Despite its large size, the bomb can be carried by F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets, allowing for more flexible use of the weapon without the need for strategic bombers.

The US and Israeli strikes have targeted Iran's missile and drone infrastructure, but military analysts say Tehran's capabilities remain significant. Just a day earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had struck Tel Aviv with "Khorramshahr-4" missiles. and "Kadr", which can carry multiple warheads.

Videos that have emerged on social media also point to the possible use of cluster munitions by Iran, further raising concerns about escalation and widening the conflict in the region.
