The weapon, first tested in 2021, uses satellite and inertial guidance and is designed specifically to penetrate heavily defended underground targets.
Despite its large size, the bomb can be carried by F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets, allowing for more flexible use of the weapon without the need for strategic bombers.
The US and Israeli strikes have targeted Iran's missile and drone infrastructure, but military analysts say Tehran's capabilities remain significant.
